Teo Ee Sing, Sunway TES...

Mr Teo Ee Sing, founder and Executive Director of the Financial Courses Division of Sunway University College, also known as SUNWAY-TES, speaks to Accountant Key about his personal life.

What would be your greatest achievement so far?

It would be my greatest achievement and also of SUNWAY-TES when we officially managed to secure the premier plus status back in year 2003, just 3 years after ACCA came up with the award to quality tuition providers all around the world. SUNWAY-TES was the first tuition provider outside UK to proudly clinch this award, whereby stringent criterias have to be fulfilled in order to qualify for the award.

Accountant...

Three engineers and three accountants are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three accountants each buy tickets and watch as the three engineers buy only a single ticket.

"How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asks an accountant. "Watch and you'll see," answers an engineer. They all board the train. The accountants take their respective seats but all three engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them.

Curriculum Vitae vs. Resume

Job Interview...

The terms 'Curriculum Vitae' and 'resume' are generally interchangeable. However, few people know that they do differ in many ways. It is true that both are lists of the most relevant information of a person pertaining to job seeking. Both are used for the same purpose - i.e. seeking employment.

However, there are a few basic differences, i.e. while the Curriculum Vitae represents an in-depth and structured information about the professional experience and qualification of a person, the resume usually is the same thing in a very short form - hence, the name. The resume would usually represent a skeletal representation of what would otherwise be included in depth and detail in the Curriculum Vitae. This is why typically a CV would be two to three pages while the resume would not normally exceed one page.

Death From Overwork

Very Frustrated...

Are you a working adult? Do you find yourself wandering home exhausted and blurry at 3 am each day, and then trudging out of bed at 7am the next day to work? Has your office become your first home instead of your nice cosy apartment? Do you feel like the initial bite of the work bug is causing you to be in a zombie-like-state almost all the time? Are you suffering from headaches, continuous irritability, fatigue, and on the verge of a mental or physical breakdown?  The good news is, you are not alone, and it is relatively simple to bounce back to good health. The bad news is, if you continue to be in that state, it would cause serious health problems, even leading to death.

All You Need To Know About The Credit Crunch

E-mail Print PDF
Credit Crunch

IT was once an arcane term only known to economists, but the phrase "credit crunch" has been so widely used over the past two years that it has been added to the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary.

While it has become part of common parlance, what is a credit crunch and how does it affect you? Here we answer the essential questions.

What is a credit crunch?

In simple terms, a crisis caused by banks being too nervous to lend money to us or each other. Where they will lend, they charge higher rates of interest to cover their risk.

In the real world, that means more expensive mortgages, dearer credit cards, pain for pension savers and other investors as stock markets fluctuate wildly, and in the worst cases repossession and bankruptcy...(read more)
